Kapuskasing (2001 population 9,238) is a town on the Kapuskasing River in the Cochrane District of northern Ontario, Canada.
Transportation
Kapuskasing is the big community placed directly along Highway 11 between Thunder Bay and Temiskaming Shores. A town is as well served by Kapuskasing Airport with scheduled passenger service and general aviation. A word Kapuskasing means "bend in the river" when a Kapuskasing flow of any stream bends inside a town.
History
A town was founded in the early 20th century when the forerunner of the Canadian National Railway was built through the area. In the period of World War I it was the places of an internment camp that held above 1,200 captive.
Fallowing the war, a paper mill was established. A mill, okay, owned by Tembec, is still a town's major employer.

Kapuskasing's locally-originated media include English-language commercial radio station CKAP-FM, branded Moose FM; French-language community radio station CKGN-FM; & a English-language Kapuskasing Northern Days and bilingual Le/The Weekender community newspapers.
